  1. Describe what you see.- I think this picture is taking place at a shop. I can see the materials that the store is selling and I also see a trashcan. I see many people sitting and standing around a bench like they are waiting for a bus.
  2. What do you notice first?- The first thing that I notice is the one lady that is standing up. I do not know why, but i think it is because she is one of the only ones standing up.
  3. What, if any, words do you see?- I see the words "Trading post, retail, wholesale, chickens, eggs, feed, flour, and grocers"
  1. What’s happening in the image?- In this image there are people waiting outside of a market. Some people are sitting on a bench and some people are standing around the bench.
  2. Who do you think was the audience for this image?- I think the audience of this picture is people that are richer. I think this because the artist of this picture wants to show the richer people how other people are living. It is supposed to show them that not eveybody has it good.
  3. What can you learn from examining this image?- From this image, I can learn that not eveybody has it good. Some people don't have their own car and habve to wait for the bus. They have to shop at the market with the money they barelt own.
What do you wonder about...
  1. who?-I wonder who these people are. The ones that are sitting and standing around the bench.
  2. when?- because this picture is in black and white, I can not tell what time of day it is. I would like to know what time it is because that could possibly change the whole picture.
why?- I wonder why all the people are just sitting and standing there? Are they all talking? Are they waiting for a bus? Well I would sure like to know.

1. what you see.- In this picture, I see two African Americans with dresses and no shoes. One of them is wearing something on their head. They seem to be walking on a dirt road that leads to a place that is not seen. On the side of the road I see grass that seems like it would be yellow. I also see a broken fence made out of wood.
2.What do you notice first?- Oddly, the first thing that I notice is the two dark pieces of wood that are part of the broken fence. I don't know why, but it is the first thing that I see.
3.What other details can you see?- When looking really hard at the sky, you can see that it is a little britter towards the top. I think that it might be the sun's rays shining down.

1.What’s happening in the image?- In this image, two African Americans are walking down a dirt road that leads to a place that is not seen. These two women are the only two.
2.When do you think it was made?- I think this image was made when these two women are coming home from church. I think this because the sun is starting to come out and it just seems right

4.If someone made this today, what would be different?- If this picture was made today, it would be very different. First, the grass would even look different and the wooden fence would most likely be metal and would not be broken. also, the women would not be working, but they would be driving in a car.

What do you wonder about...
1.when?- I want to know what time of day it is. Are they walking at night or during the day?
2.where?- I also want to know where these women are walking to. Are they walking to church, home, the store, or somewhere else.
3.why?- I want to know why these people are walking. Are they walking for fun, for a job, or do they have to get somewhere. Do they not own a car.

  2. What people and objects are shown?- The people and objects that are shown are the older man and the car he is pushing.
3.What, if any, words do you see?- There are words and they say, 'Standerd oil products"

1.What’s happening in the image?- In this image, an older man is pushing and pulling his car.
2.Who do you think was the audience for this image?- I think the audience was once again for richer people. I think this because it is showing them some people dont have the best cars and that when they break down they have to do things liek push them.
3.If someone made this today, what would be different?- If someone made this today, it would be different because, there would be many people helping the man and he would not have to push it because there are towtrucks.

  • Describe what you see.-In this picture, I see a water fountain. I can tell that this water fountain is only for the whites.
  • What do you notice first?-The first thing that I notice is the black object sitting in the window. I notice first because it is the darkest object and it is towards the center.
  • What, if any, words do you see?-Yes there are words and they say "Water, soup, and white."

  • Why do you think this image was made?- This image was made to show how whites and blacks were forced to use different things. It shows how bad racism was and how whites had it better.
  • When do you think it was made?-I think this picture was made before Martin Luther King Jr. made his famous speech. I think this because his speech made whites and blacks use the same things and only whites could this water fountain.
  • If someone made this today, what would be different?-This picture would be different because there would be whites and blacks using it
    • when?- I want to know when this picture was made. Was it made before or after Martin's famous speech?
    • where?-I also wonder where this picture was made.
    • why?-I want to know why people thought blacks were not as good as them because they are humans. Why were people so mean?

  • What do you notice first?- The first thing that I notice is the sign that says "white waiting room" I notice that because that is what the picture is based around.
  • What people and objects are shown?The people that are shown are all white people and the object is a bus that they are all waiting for.
  • What, if any, words do you see?-The words that I see are "Whites, waiting room." It shows how whites and blacks had to wait in seperate places.

  • Why do you think this image was made?- I think this image was made to show that white people did not want to be assocated with blacks. You can say that because the whites and blacks had to wait for buses in different places.
  • What’s happening in the image?- In this image, there are many people that are waiting for a bus. You can notice that all the people are white.
  • If someone made this today, what would be different?-This picture would be different because whites and blacks would wait in the same place and they would take the same bus unlike in this picture. People today do not care if they are next to a black, but back then they did.

  1. when?- I wonder when all of this taking place. What time of day, day of the week, or anything else that would help me understand this picture better.
  2. where?-I wonder where all these people are going to go. I feel like it is somewhere important because there are so many people.
  3. why?-Once again, I want to know why peopel hated blacks so much. They are the same as us so what made people think they were not as good as us?

  2. What people and objects are shown?-There are no people in this picture, but there is an object. The object is the sign that has an arrow on it.

  2. When do you think it was made?- I think this was made before Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous speech. I think this because blacks and whites would be waiting together.
  3. If someone made this today, what would be different?-If this image was made today, it would be different; actually, there would not be a photo. This is because we do not have signs that tell blacks that they have to wait in a different place than whites.
